Alkafeel University pursues to achieve its educational mission via civilizing individuals by providing a suitable environment that stimulates learning, scientific research, as well as community services. To confirm its seriousness and adherence and promote its persistent efforts of seeking to learn, the environmental awareness program has great interest at Alkafeel University as a result of its impact on the educational environment. As water is critical for life, it shapes our environment. Therefore, it is prioritized by the University through conserving, recycling, and treating it for sustainability. To fulfill this, a policy of water sustainability is set by the University Chancellor to be followed. 1.       The importance of water conservation and water loss reduction is always an integral part of the University of Alkafeel's management of the freshwater resources in which it is given a prominent interest in freshwater resource planning. For instance, the university provides huge tanks to store and protect pure water and keep it cold. Individuals who work inside the campus enjoy using clean freshwater in washing and flushing.

2.       Alkafeel university exploits the water that existed in aquifers underground on its land by extracting it in form of a lake that is exploited in building, irrigating plants, and even for birds to drink. This denotes the University's interest in conserving and exploiting water.

3.       Touch sensor water taps are installed inside each bath of the University buildings, they are designed with high sensitivity and quick response which serve to conserve water sustainability.

4.       A plant has been established to install a large water desalination Reverse Osmosis system in the Holy City of Karbala by the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine to be one of its stations for sustainable development. As our university is one of the Holy Shrine projects it is provided with purified that is potable to drink to be kept in clean huge water tanks. Then water is cooled in dispensers to be ready for use.

Water conservation posters are posted at every place where water is used inside the campus such as at baths, kitchens, greenspaces, building spaces…etc. These posters involve instructions e.g., "please, turn off the taps, save water and our environment".

5.       A smart water meter and monitoring system are provided inside the campus to conserve water and use it wisely.  This helps to detect water leaks, conserve water, and lower the University water bill. It helps to measure the volume of water flowing through the pipes.
